Individual study spaces are available in the Library for individual HCC students to use for academic purposes:
- individual study rooms - room numbers CL239, CL240;
- study carrels.
Individuals must use the online room bookings tool to request an individual study room - study carrels may be used without a reservation.
By reserving an Individual Study Room, you agree to the following terms:
- All students must follow the HCC Student Code of Conduct (outlined in the Student Handbook) and treat library spaces, other students, and staff with respect.
- Only one student may use an individual study room. Additional students, or non-HCC students, are not allowed.
- Individual workspaces are for academic purposes only, such as studying or coursework.
- Reservation requests must be confirmed within 15 minutes by clicking the link in the confirmation email sent to your HCC student email address. If not confirmed, the reservation request will be automatically canceled by the system.
- The student must check in at the Library Service Desk within 15 minutes of the start of the reservation. If the student does not check in, the reservation will be automatically canceled by the system.
- The student must remain in the room for the duration of the reservation. If there is no one in the room, the room will be reassigned.
- The student must exit the room promptly at the end of the reserved time.
- This room is not soundproof. Be mindful of your noise level. Headphones are recommended. You may use your own headphones. A limited supply may be available from the Library Service Desk.
- Unattended personal belongings are subject to removal by Public Safety or library staff.
- Tutors, classroom instructors, and clubs may not use individual study rooms.
- Library staff reserve the right to adjust room reservations to maximize availability. This includes changing rooms, canceling reservations, and reporting violations of these terms or the HCC Student Code of Conduct.
A student may reserve a library study space for up to three (3) hours total per day.
Interleaving to bypass daily usage limits is not permitted. Library staff reserve the right to cancel any interleaved reservations.
