From the library website, click on the Research/Course Guides tab. at the top.  Under Research Guides, click PSYCHOLOGY from that alphabetical listing of guides.  On the guide, there is a list of Databases; click on PROQUEST PSYCHOLOGY.

When you arrive at the search page, try searching  african american women on the first line, media on the second line, and influence on the third line.  Make certain you check the boxes for peer-reviewed and scholarly, and use "last three years" as your date limit.  Checking the  peer-reviewed and scholarly will ensure that you are getting academic journal results , which is needed to find a primary study.

You will find many articles as a result of this search; but you will need to make certain that there is a METHOD section (separate section,m not just the workd "method" in a sentence) in order to ensure that the article is a primary source.
